Both you guys have very valid observations. I would add that the team passing hes been terrible for a long time as well. This leads to turnovers and has impact on puck procession. Absent Suter the team was noticeably deficient in the neutral zone crossing the blue line. Im not sure any of this was addressed to make a positive impact. Its also unproven that Nystrom and Hendricks are capable of repairing the physical grinding game the team once had. And again the point about dumping the puck in and just giving up to get back on defense was an issue and well may continue with Trotz influence on the importance of defense first.
