Spezza and Bergeron are not competing for the same jobs on Team Canada. Not every player is expected to carry the offense. Certain players need to fill a defensive role on a line, be elite PK'ers, and handle important draws. Bergeron is among the best in the world in each of these areas (plus he is a right-handed shot, which differentiates him from the other strong faceoff taking centers in Crosby and Toews, who are lefties). Spezza is competing against Crosby, Giroux, Getzlaf, Thornton, and Tavares, which represents steep competition.

Moreover, you are comparing Letang, a right-shooting, offensive defenseman, with Bouwmeester, a left-shooting defenseman who would be occupying more a two-way role. Once again, apples and oranges. Letang is competing against Weber, Subban, Green, and Doughty as right-handed shots who can QB the PP. Bouwmeester has much easier competition as the left-defenseman (which the coaches prefer to be left-shooting, if possible) positions are relatively open behind Keith (e.g., Hamhuis, M Staal, Phaneuf, etc...).

For all we know, Hall is not competing against Nash. I expect Hall to compete against the likes of Couture, Carter, Duchene, E Kane, Ladd, Kunitz, St. Louis, Tavares, and E Staal, among others, for a scoring line LW position. Hall has an advantage in that he is a natural LW and shoot left-handed. On the other hand, it looks like Nash is slotted to play RW again (as he did in 2010 with Toews-Richards and currently with the NYR) with Toews unless he plays his way out of that spot.
