Ahhh, ok. That was actually quite a scandal back in 65/66. Dow was the leading brand in PQ however over a 6mnth period or so about 50 people in the Quebec City region all checked into the hospitals with Alcoholic Cardiomyopathy. These were heavy drinkers, on average 24 bottles a day. 20 cases were fatal. Though never proven & nor did Dow ever admit to such, seems the brewery in QC was using Cobalt Sulphate to add consistency to the head of the beer, only in QC they were using 10X's the amount being used in Montreal. The brand never recovered from that scandal and was phased out by Carling O'Keefe who had by then acquired Dow & its brands. Molsons then acquired Carling O'keefe, the Dow brand receiving a retro marketing surge at various times through the 90's though I think it may now be off-market yet again.
