Beside the point, he was drafted 217th overall and didn't even emerge as a starter until he was 32. So pretty much exactly the type of point I was making, he was signed as an FA by Boston and got to play behind Chara, Seidenberg, Boychuck, Ference, and a few others enroute to his cup win.

The goalpost was "stanley cup winning goalies don't need to be elite". You then went back to provide some historical examples. SURELY, when you are talking about these Stanley Cup winning goalies we are talking about their abilities AT THE TIME THEY WON THE CUP?!?!

Yeah, Thomas has effectively retired. That's completely irrelevant. At the time he won the cup he was performing at an ELITE level... in fact, he performed at an ELITE level for most of his career.
