I don't think it's ridiculous to think that Kristo wanted to play for an American team, proud American and all that.
So why did Kristo even sign a contract with the Habs then? One possibility is that he wanted to burn off a year from his ELC and so reach RFA status earlier.
I tend to agree with you. Kristo could become a very good NHLer but I always had the feeling that he might never play for the Habs. Like you, I can't point to anything definitive, it was just a feeling that it wasn't going to work out.
