I think it's pretty easy for the Habs medical staff to check out whether he has a real foot infection or not... I doubt it's made up.
If you want to make up an injury, talk about a sore groin, or say the back hurts... docs have no way of telling whether it's true or not.
The injuries are legit... but when you down or depressed, you body tends to shut down and you're more prone to injury or getting sick. I think that in that sense his father's condition has something to do with Markov's injuries.
I rather he goes home for a week, comes back ready to go. He'd be thankful to the team and would want to fight for them twice as hard.
Hell Breezer went to Paris for no good reason, Markov could do this and I truly wouldn't mind given the circumstances. Besides he's out with injury anyway, might as well let him heal ALL his "wounds" while he's not playing.
