If you want to develop intended qualities in a player don't rip him to the press when the team put him in a bad position in the first place. And theres a place called the ahl for development. Not sticking him with 3rd liners.

Ripping a young talent, who wasnt a top 5 pick, is counter productive since it is feasters responbility to develop him in the first place. I could see ripping a top 5 pick if they are stinking it up because they have higher expectations. Its relatively assured 10-20 picks won't be NHL ready for 2 or so years. Why rip him when he's following the path of those guys
