Roy clearly likes Mitchell a lot more then Malone based on how things have played out. At this point I'll trust his judgment and like that we have him centering our 4th line as he is the best option.

Not sure why Avs fans don't like him, but he was a good pickup and played decent enough for being under Sacco's system. Would like to see how he does in a real system.

Also, Mez would be fine if he was healthy - but he isn't. Roy knows better than to take a D man they are desperately trying to offload because there is a reason they are desperate to offload him.
At the moment, Mezsaros is healthy.

The reason the Flyers would move him is fairly simple--his salary and cap are out of line with the role he can play in Philadelphia. He's 6th on the depth chart behind Timonen, Coburn, Streit, L. Schenn, and Grossmann. In a cap era, it's tricky to have you 6th defenseman carrying a $4.0 hit (the $5.5 in real salary isn't really the issue).

In Colorado, he'd have the opportunity to play a top-4 role. If he stays healthy, its a pretty easy win for the Avs, since a healthy Mezsaros is pretty easily > John Mitchell.

Whether he will stay healthy--either in PHI or COL--is anyone's guess.
