Homer learned that one after trading eric winerich and having no D left in 2003.
He can be left alone in the press box and dusted off when needed. Once pronger is LTIR, they will have a nice cushion for once. Cheaper at this time of year then getting raked for 2nd rounders for D insurance.
That was Bob Clarke, Homer was the assistant GM at that time. Homer didn't get his start as the GM until the 2006-2007 season.
