There's a lot of lamenting that Holmgren didn't land Bernier, which I find odd since Mason was far from the reason this team lost. I'm visualizing the response if Holmgren had pulled the trigger:
The Flyers came out strong, but Reimer kept the Leafs in the game. If it weren't for him, the Leafs would have been down by a few in the first. Once the Leafs changed their game plan, the Flyers wilted. Bernier was solid, and didn't have much of a chance on any of the goals.
I'm excited to see what Bernier can do, but this was yet another year where Holmgren dealt away a 1st round pick. Not using an 11th overall pick in a deep draft year will
hurt this franchise.
Right now, the skaters all have to improve and play like they've met each other before the opening faceoff. And Laviolette needs to drill both a plan and a sense of 60-minute urgency into their heads.
