Become more comfortable on the left side of the ice. During his previous NHL stint, where he looked very promising, he was playing on the right side. Problem is that Adam Oates has a very strong preference for players to play on their natural side, and Orlov is a left shot. Unless Oates is willing to bend his policy or Orlov takes the next step as a left defenseman, he's going to continue to be buried in Hershey. Especially with guys like Nate Schmidt, Tyson Strachan, Connor Carrick, and Tomas Kundratek also fighting for playing time in the NHL.
