The Hurricanes have acquired Defenseman Mark Flood for Defenseman Derrick Walser
Quote:
Flood, 22, is in his second professional season and has recorded a goal and an assist (2 points) in eight games this season with the Syracuse Crunch, the Blue Jackets’ AHL affiliate. The Charlottetown, PEI, native split the 2005-06 season between Syracuse and Dayton of the ECHL. In nine AHL games last season, Flood recorded one goal and one assist (2 points) while totaling 25 points (11g, 14a) in 50 ECHL games.
Flood signed as a free agent with Columbus on Aug. 18, 2005, following his four-year major junior hockey career with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League. Flood (6’1”, 190 lbs.) was a teammate of Hurricanes center Eric Staal at Peterborough in 2001-02 and 2002-03

maybe we can add another of Eric's ex teammates and sign an ex pick of ours in Aaron Dawson next. I'm not really sure what to think of this deal to be honest. He had a decent offensive touch with the Petes and in the ECHL. But it remains to be seen wether or not he can translate this to the AHL, yet alone the NHL.
