This comes a day late and a dollar short....

Chris Breen has been assigned to the Heat on a conditioning stint and Blair Jones has been recalled with the injury to David Jones.

What this means for the Heat:

Breen will likely replace MacKenzie in the lineup, there is a chance Cundari is sat out instead as he has been the worst Heat defender so far.

The recall of Jones will split up the Hanowski/Knight/Jones line, which has been the best line so far for the Heat, Ferland is expected back and could slide into the spot Jones held. There is also a chance Nemisz moves up to that line.

What it means for the Flames:

Breen WILL NOT have to clear waivers, this is a conditioning stint so once he is in game shape he must be returned to the Flames. Since this is a conditioning stint it is reasonable to assume that barring any further injuries that another defenseman will be demoted once Breen is healthy, likely Smith since he has already cleared waivers and will not need to again until the end of October.

Jones will either fill Jackman's hole in the pressbox or play on the 4th line. Either Bouma or Colborne will move up to the 3rd line.
