A lot of these guys posting about their long term struggles with their injuries might have had some ACL pathology to go with it. Unless it was a complete rupture or featured ACL damage as well there's no reason for the instability to persist beyond 4-6 weeks. Often times an ACL injury also goes hand in hand with an MCL tear, just because of the mechanism.

MRI's are pretty accurate in terms of classification of severity for these injuries. No reason to expect a severe extension of Hall's absence unless there's a setback in the rehab process.
