I disagree. A lot of really nasty goons are in the AHL because they're so big yet immobile that they are useless at NHL level. Some examples would be players like Brett Gallant and Steve MacIntyre. The AHL has many tougher fighters, but obviously is a much easier league to play in. McIlrath is facing nastier competition down there, in my opinion.
