I wouldn't call Serge Savard a stay at home defenseman. This guy was relied upon to kickstart the offense. He'd take the puck away from an opponent. Do the original Savardian spino-rama in his own zone or a couple of them to elude the forchecker, then skate the puck up ice or pass it to a forward.

20 goals in one year and another of 12 is not the definition of a stay at home D.

I would think Jacques Laperriere would fit the definition better though.
