in the highly unlikely scenario that he can never ever come back, he wouldnt retire, he would go on LTIR just like Pronger is doing.. he gets his money, we get cap relief, insurance pays the contract, and we all move on


I think the bigger concern isnt that he wont come back, but that he will have some lasting effects on his mobility whenever he does come back
