You're mixing that up. We did think we were smarter than everyone else and pass on the consensus #2 ranked goalie for Dubnyk, but that guy was Marek Schwarz. Schneider wasn't even considered a first rounder. Dubnyk was an absolutely tremendous pick, where the consensus guy was a bust and one of those times where the 'we're smarter than everyone else' actually turned out to be right.
