For that alone, he's to blame for the demise of this franchise as much as Houle. As for Corey, he followed the same path as Savard: excellent at first (remember Grundman), he became full of himself afterwards...with the results we know now.
I think Savard's drafting after 1987 was still better than Houle's drafting and remember Savard was dealing with alot lower draft postition than Houle had and still landed way more NHL players than Houle:
Savard picks during his so called sucking year (1988-1995,) playing in the NHL right now:
Brisebois, Theodore, Koivu, Rivet, Savage, Sean Hill, Turner Stevenson, Valeri Bure, Rory Fitzpatrick, Darcy Tucker, Brad Brown, Tomas Vokoun, Stephane Robidas
Houle's picks playing in the NHL now:
Mathieu Garon, Arron Asham, Jason Ward, Eric Chouinard, Mike Ribeiro, Andrei Markov, Michael Ryder.
Plus take into consideration the trades that both made and it's no question who was the better GM.
