It's all about the immediate money. In 12 years, he'll be long gone (please God) and it'll be someone else's problem. In that time frame, we may all be watching on our tablets and TV channels won't exist. In addition, it may well be that the next generation of viewers have little interest in hockey and soccer will be king.
What makes you think he'll be gone in 12 years. The guys' job is pretty safe.
