Flex is different for different brands though is it not. For instance the Nike/Bauer and Vapor sticks I have used feel like they are wet noodles. Easton seems to be the stiffest flex by comparison.

I think, as has been said, flex is a matter of preference. It is important to know what you want from the stick though. Whippier flex (TPS whip and Vapor 97 flex) I have found helps me to shoot the puck hard with a quicker release but I broke them pretty easily. Using a stiffer stick (100 and up) I got a bit more use out of them but I had to step into it a bit more to shoot the puck its hardest. My max shot was harder with the stiff flex though.
