ACR - do it. You won't regret it. Yes, the gear is expensive. Yes, it's awkward, and it can even be painful. You won't be armored everywhere, and puckbites hurt. But it is a huge amount of fun and great exercise. Get on to some of the goalie BBs and read. Check out some of the goalie manuals from your local library or inter-library loan. Get to a Learn-to-play class (our local ones let goalies practice for free in exchange for being a target during drills). Most important, talk to the other goalies you will meet at LTP classes, stick-n-pucks, etc. Some goalies are jerks and won't talk to another netminder, but most of us are glad to help a fellow goalie.
