I would suggest people work on sprints. I exercise a lot, but it's mainly endurance exercise at a moderate pace. I'm starting to work in sprints because hockey is a game of sprints, not coasting.
Quick hard shifts..those 1-2 minute shifts early on will bite you in the ass
