The Rangers are certainly a better team on paper, but the game ain't played on paper, is it?

Jagr for Carter is an upgrade on offense, and at 5 million per year, it is a good deal for the Rags. What I can't understand is how Jagr is expected to lead the Rangers to the playoffs. He's not a leader, and N.Y. has plenty of leaders anyway. (Messier, Leetch...) How is Jagr going to unite the N.Y. dressing room?

The Rangers scare me. If they ever start playing hockey, they can do some damage. But what does Sather do next? If he wants a quality player, (on defense and in goal) he'll have to deal one of his stars, as they have no top-notch prospects in their system to trade. Since their stars are all grossly overpaid, they're not that attractive to other teams. The Rags will be in the same boat as the Caps were with Jagr. They'll have to eat some salary in order to move a marquee player. But I guess money is not an issue there, is it?
