On a personal level, I don't feel strongly about Schenn either way.
I don't ever expect him to become a superstar or anything like that, but the guy still doesn't even have two seasons worth of games in the NHL. He still has time to greatly improve. I mean, at the time Giroux had 47 points his 2nd season in the NHL. I know that's not a good comparison of players, but my point is that he has room to grow and who knows how much or how little it will be.
I do understand why you're saying though, you would've hoped for more from someone who was given a label like that, but I don't think it's fair to hold him to that forever. It'll be impossible for him to live up to expectations if they're that high.
