What would the Flames look like if trading didn't exist, redux

Sort of copied and pasted from this thread the main discussion area.

This thread only got me started. I decided to dig into the Hockey Database and get the list of current players (as of Jan/30/07) and come up with this fantasy scenario: every player moved back to the team he played his first NHL game for. This particular thread is intended for the Calgary Flames.

The ultimate purpose of this will be to aid me in the creation of a roster patch for NHL07 for the PC. Realistically, we could all see which teams have benefited from free agency (i.e. those who have prospered by good trading and free agent decisions) and which teams have suffered from free agency (i.e. those teams who let go players who could help them today), but it's all obviously in the realm of fantasy.

Obviously, given the relative age of some teams, there are teams whose original player rosters are short-handed, and others are over-stocked and over-flowing with reserves. If I do ultimately make the lines you guys help me make into rosters for NHL07, those of you who know the EA NHL games know every team has a required number of players and then they have a group of reserves (no more than 5 players, I think it is). If a set of rosters can be set and there are players left over, these players will be placed in a sort of dispersal draft for the short-handed teams to pick from.

The beauty of this idea is that, no matter whether someone is traded over the course of the rest of the season, or waived, or whatever, in this idea they always belong to whatever team they played their first game for. So, really, the only people this idea really affects are the minor-league call-ups and undrafted free-agents, and they typically don't make much of an affect on a roster.

Here are all the players currently playing in the NHL that played their first NHL games with the Flames.
