At what term would you all be comfortable resigning our UFA's? There has to be a contract length and cap-hit that determines whether they re-sign or are traded at the deadline. If I'm Glen, I give the UFA's the best, fairest ultimatum contract that NYR can and if they ask for more I send them at the deadline for the best return. You can't "hope to re-sign them before the season is over". We can't get caught with our pants down in the offseason.

Personally, these are the absolute maximum terms that I would consider re-signing each player more valuable to the club than any return that said player can bring back in a trade. Bare in mind, there are currently 10 contracts signed and 29 million available this offseason.

Ryan Callahan - 6 years x 5.7 = 34.2
Dan Girardi - 6 years x 5.5 = 33
Anton Stralman - 4 years x 3.3 = 13.2
Derick Brassard - 3 years x 3.7 = 11.1
Brian Boyle - 2 years x 1.9 = 3.8
Dominic Moore - 1 year x 1.3 = 1.3
Justin Falk - 2 years x 1.1 = 2.2

BUYOUT: Brad Richards = 6.6

Total = 29 - 22.5 + 6.6 = 13.1 million in cap space to fill out the roster.

I didn't include Chris Kreider or John Moore because it's apparent that Sather will re-sign them each to bridge deals, and I don't see their contract statuses as up for debate.

Interested to learn what everyone thinks and gauge the success of Sather's upcoming moves.
