Good teams make good moves beyond the draft. Now if you're saying that Bergevin doesn't have to make any good moves this season or off-season because he's got a longer timetable, then okay, but his legacy will be determined by the moves he eventually makes (or doesn't make).
The only big move in the last few years that had any impact has been the Kings getting Richards and Carter. Very few big moves happen in the cap era. If you're going to make a move, you need to have the rest of the pieces in place and that happens through the draft. There's no point making moves until you have the team ready to compete.
