Don't use goals as a measure of 5v5 performance in such small samples, the variance effects become too big. The Rangers have gone from the 5th best 5v5 team in 12-13 (3rd in the East) to the 8th best in 13-14 (3rd in the East). Not a huge drop off and a lot is due to the slow start and that dreadful ten game stretch in the middle of the season - we were a lot more consistent last year.

Funnily enough, if we go by goals we were almost as bad a 5v5 team last year when the score was close as we are this year. We just piled it on when the game was out of hand in either way last year, whereas this season our scoring troubles have been about the same no matter the score in the game.
