Well... can't judge this trade yet.

Ward is an average NHL'er, likely never going to be more than a 3rd/4th liner. Marek could be decent but he may never cross the pond and he was likely never going to play for the Rangers. Cliche is the big piece to this trade, a guy with some offensive instincts who can play a checking role. Cliche could turn out to be a second liner but more likely a good 3rd liner who can be used in all situations.

In return we get Seymour... don't know much about him but doesn't look poromising. A big forward with no scoring touch is what his stats suggest. Then we get Avery. A guy with some of talent who can really agitate. The problem won't be Avery the hockey player, the problem could be Avery the distraction maker. He's got a big mouth as we all know and in the media circus of NY he will either thrive or explode, maybe Theo Fleury style? Anyway, the deal makes sense because each side is taking some risk with the possibility for reward. We'll see what happens.
