No. No they weren't.
Murray and Clowe were both terrible for them last year. Clowe didn't score a single goal in 28 games ffs. That's DD bad.
What they didn't do is sell off Dan Boyle who is at a similar stage in his career as Markov. You don't trade top pairing defensemen. Ever. Unless you want to be Calgary.
When Markov's play actually starts to deteriorate at a serious level, then you ship him off a la Kaberle (Leafs trade). Until then, you keep him and shelter your young defensemen.
