then why include him at all? it's not like they'd be publicly scrutinized for not squeezing a "walking stiff" in the deal.

Girardi was soo good at the junior level that in his 5th season in OHL, his overage season, he had 39 points in 69 games. If his knock was that he wasn't going to translate to the pro game, then his stats sure as hell were not. He also played with Callahan so the Rangers definately had an eye on him and were atuned.
