More in depth

The Enigma line: What can I say. I keep waiting for the line to fall apart, and it keeps proving me wrong. Zucc has been playing with the same engine and energy that we saw some players have under Torts, but is skilled enough where it doesn't seem to slow down his playmaking. Brassard is just good with the puck, seems to know where his teammates are without looking, and that one-timer of his is just SNEAKY. Pouliot is in quite possibly the only role he can fill, which is to be opportunistic, and waiting for the puck, but, he's doing it marvelously. A player I don't like proving me wrong is so, so sweet.

People have been telling me that this line has become the de facto 2nd line, and I disagree. They've become the 1st.

Speaking of...

I hate Rick Nash. He may be the worst "superstar" alive. He exerts no effort, takes selfish, momentum killing penalties, should never, EVER see the penalty kill again, and since this is apparently now something we can hold against a player, he flubbed 2 really good scoring chances today.

Stepan was a bit better. Not much, but a bit.

Kreider was a non-factor for most of the game, but seemed to find some fire later on. I really wish someone would scrub that match-penalty from his memory; he's gone tentative again.

The Richards line was alright. The 3 of them shot at MAF from every angle, created some good chances, but more importantly, they did a good job against the Pens top line for the entire game.

Hags is skating well again, though he's still making some dumb passes, lead to a few turnovers.

Cally, up until he forgot where he was in the 3rd minute of the game, had played well. Had 3 takeaways, 2 in the neutral zone and another in the O, shot early and often, battled on the board. He made one mistake and it was the worst one he could.

Richards, again: Great on the Powerplay, eh 5 on 5.

4th line did their job. Carcillo could have gone out trying to wreak havoc, but wisely, did not. Boyle had a bit of a rough game on the PK, but that happens against the pens.

A good game, a bad mistake. I'll take a tie against Pittsburgh in their barn. And it's nice to get the "win", even if it is in the shootout.
