I think a cocktail of technique, shot selection, weight/height and strength all play a part. I also think trial and error help you decide too.

I'm 6'2" 195 and do my fair share of lifting. I've dabbled in flex between 75 and 107 and have found I get the best of all worlds with a low kick 85 flex stick. I can play with 95-100 flex but my shot selection leans more towards clappers and I can play with 75 flex but certain things come out of the arsenal. 85/low kick gives me a nice compromise. I've strayed away and come back because the little bit I lose of my clapper is worth the extra I get on my snapper.
