I'm talking about how the majority of the money the NHL makes each year comes from sources other than the TV deals.

For instance when you combine the NHL's new deal with Rogers (Canada) with their current deal with NBC (United States) you get an annual income of roughly $550 million. The NHL made over 3.3 billion in 2012 (the last full year) and revenues have been going up since.

Unless he believes that the local TV contracts (not NBC or Rogers) are accounting for an additional $1.5 billion (rounded off) in annual revenue (highly unlikely) then like I said the bulk of the NHL's money comes from sources other than TV contracts.
