Every year, after the draft, I go back to hockeyreference.com and go back through the various drafts. It is a bit difficult, because the numbers move every year, but Excel makes it easier.

Right now, the numbers I have are from 1988-2012, since the 2013 draft players' season has (technically) not completed yet. It also really doesn't have much meaning for newer players until two-three years have passed.

Of the 6,270 picks that have been made since 1988, the average ADV is .0969. The total ADV of the NHL is 607.387 over the last 25 years.
