You could even *blasphemy ahead* make a convincing case to take him ahead of Ryder. He's ten times the playmaker, puckhandler, better vision, more versatile etc...Other than goalscoring and physical presence (where Ryder isn't overly impressive) Wellwood is mostly the better player. We'll have to see if Wellwood can handle the rigors of the NHL game for 82 games, but there's no denying his skills.

The guy is turning into a PPG NHLer when many (myself included) though he would be a great AHLer but marginal NHLer. I've done a 180 on my opinion of Wellwood, he's a very good young player.
