Why is Esche Mr. Bouncy Wall? He's been solid all year, as far as rebounds go it should be a non-issue if the dmen do their jobs.
Right now: Burke-Niity>Niity-Little
I'm hoping Branko can hold down a spot on Roenick's line, nobody else has worked there so give him a shot. I think we're better off now than we were with Woywitka and 2 picks.
Yes, prospects are hit or miss... so then in that case, their value cannot be determined until they have either fulfilled potential or busted. My point on that issue is, it's Burke, & two guys I've never heard of. I'll give them a chance, but I won't go saying the deal is good, because as far as I'm concerned, it's Comrie/Burke, and I do NOT like Burke.
As far as Esche, rebounds DO matter... how can you even say they don't? When a goaltender leaves a rebound 8 feet in front of the net, and the opposing team picks it up and puts it home, that's in no way the d-man's fault. You HAVE to control the puck, and he just doesn't. I guess when we're knocked out in round one once again, you'll blame the D for not picking up his sloppy rebounds?
As far as for the remainder of the season, I personally would have liked to have seen Nitty/(Burke, until Esche is back) and then split time between nitty and esche and see who really holds down the fort. Obviously you don't want to dump the load on a young guy right away, but if he can handle it, go for it. It's not like the Flyers give up a ton of shots every game.
And hey, I hope Branko turns out good too, and pleasantly surprises me. But at this point, I just don't like the trade.
