According to Tero Lehterä, this was the second time scouts witnessed this team "giving up":

I can't help but think there had been some kind of a rift between the players and coach. Back in the day, when I met some of the guys from my former regular "football gang" for the first time, I and couple other friends were invited to their training session game to fill up the team numbers (they were C/B-juniors at the time). I noticed very quickly that they did not like or appreciate their coach at all. He seemed to try and cover his ineptitude by yelling loudly more. And when he was playing as the last defender, my friend stole the ball from him and went around the keeper and scored, I heard more than a few guys muttering "was that how we trained, coach?" or "so that's how we should play...". So if the team wasn't in "harmony", it's not really a wonder at their age if they don't bother to try after a certain point anymore.
