For Islanders management, they have a chance here to not allow the team and the history to be darkened by this horrific act. Charles Wang needs to issue a press release stating:

"The New York Islanders organization is deeply sorry for the undisciplined and dangerous actions carried out by Chris Simon in last night's game. While a league suspension is sure to follow, the Islanders organization will not tolerate or allow this type of unacceptable behaviour from any member of this team. Therefore, effective immediately, Chris Simon has been suspended indefinitely by the team and he will not be rejoining the team in any capacity for the balance of the current season and playoffs. Once again, we deeply regret the embarassment this has caused our organization, the team, the league and most importantly our fans. This is not what the Islanders are about, and we will ensure that this type of reckless and uncalled for action will not happen going forward."

This is a very sad day for the Islanders, but they do have an opportunity to stand up and take action to separate themselves from Simon's actions. Regardless of the league's position, the team should never allow him to wear the Islanders crest again!
