so all in all it was another mighty fine night to be a pred fan.
few quick thoughts late tonight, more tomorrow;
...just like we depended on the arnott line to carry us in the calgary game, tonight we totally relied on legwand and kariya.. that line tonight generated tons of chances, virtually a good one every shift they were on ice.
...really like that about our team, the fact that one night it's one line that steps up, the next night it's another.
...horrible first goal to get down on the 2nd shift. best i can tell, zidlicky lost his man (brule) and let him walk straight to the front of the net and camp out there all by himself. vokoun with a horrible rebound off a relatively soft shot poured gasoline on the problem.
...but let's be upright here about vokoun. he played a fine game. several now in a row honestly (outside the shootout problems). the guy is getting into his grove right before our eyes, headed right into the crucial stretch drive. vokoun is becoming vokoun again.
...right now, i can honestly say, that i don't even worry who's in net for us, both are playing well virtually everytime out right now. what a great situation to have.
...how can anyone not like tootoo? sure he's frustrating in that he simply cann't buy a point, but 100% hustle and effort every shift, and at least a penalty drawn because of it everygame. it does hurt a little to see that line generate so many chances, but simply not be able to finish.
...rads with a strong hustle game. couple of great chances he got from legwand on that one shift in the second. made a couple of hustle forecheck turnovers happen. the guy is playing hard.
...arnott with at least three pointblank booming onetimers from about 20 feet wide open square in the slot. all three straight into norrena's chest. some great scoring chances there.
...how did kariya miss that 2 on 1 open net shot off the 2 on 1 pass from legwand to start the third??.. he didn't miss-hit it it didn't look like, just trying to hit a corner i guess, when the whole net was gaping open. could have salted this one away and things would have been much less stressful.
...the pp problems returned.. tonight not being able to get the puck entered and set up was the bugaboo.. erat is horribly erratic at doing this some nights.. tonight was one of those nights.. the pp's in the second were our chance to bust this one open..
...if we'd ever have gone ahead by two goals, this one would have turned into a fight lovers dream game.. all that prevented it from happening was the close score.
well, personally i'm happy.. never easy to beat a team 8 straight times.. and here we now have 8 game winning streaks going against TWO seperate teams.. bluejackets and flames both.. my, not long ago that would have seemed impossible
