Do we need a superstar? our system? What's wrong with populating our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lines with gritty, hard-working, home-grown talent and signing a superstar or 2 when they become available? Maybe that was the lesson of the infamous Brendl/Lundmark draft, go with safer picks and sign the best when they're established as the best, limit the boom/bust ratio. I'd be very happy with a core group that plays together for a long time, sticks up for one another, and plays well as a team and adding the elite skill players in the offseason.
