I'm really torn on Gus. I like his moxy, but I don't think he has top 4 potential, more like 5-6 max. What's missing with him is the confidence to play the PP. He has never really looked comfortable. To me, if you're a smurf Dman, you better be a PP specialist who can produce points.
He played well in the third pair with Luke. You build your D around a solid, balanced top 4, then you need your 5-6 guys to be PP and PK specialists. Neither Luke nor Gus can do that as well as I'd like.
In the end, if Kimmo comes back, there is no room for Gus so he might not want to come back.
