The Thornton spray is different because, even if it sounds baby'ish because it's just a water spray, it was a safety issue with Thornton as well as interrupting the play. A player that isn't on the ice sprayed a player in the face (or could have)during the course of play. Players on the bench aren't supposed to be involved in play and if that type of thing is allowed then maybe one day it's distracting enough to cause the player in play to get distracted. With the Perry and Lundqvist things it's both during whistles and between players on the ice. No different then most of the stuff that happens in scrums really.

Context. Pretty simple context too, honestly.
