Yes. We have a proven core of players. And while they may be old, they still have a very good shot at making the Finals.
I like the Flyers core of young players. From what I have read, Carter, Richards, Eager, etc. all seem to have a bright future. But so did Alexander Daigle. I will take my shot with a proven group of players, and try not to trade too many prospects. But if JR is going to be out for a significant period of time, then maybe you have to trade someone to replace him.
Once again, getting the #1 seed has to be a priority. It is the difference between the Senators and the Islanders in round 1. If we have to trade someone to replace JR because he is going to miss significant time and the team is struggling, then so be it. This has to be the year that they win it, because it is this core's last shot.
