The sens have so many young forwards, they could afford to give up Laich. From the looks of it Spezza, Fisher and Vermette are the centermen of the future in Ottawa and White & Bonk are still pretty young, so I totaly agree with SensGod when he says Laich isn't going to even challenge for a spot on the lineup for another few years.

Bondra's a great addition and will give more space to our scoring RWs, the oposition won't be able to shadow both Hossa and Bondra... Even if the Sens play a team like New-Jersey in the playoffs, they won't be able to match lines; if they put Madden's line against Hossa and Bondra (assuming they will play together), Alfie, or Havlat, or Spezza, or Smokes will kill them. This teams as so many offensive weapons it's scary.

Now alot of people say the Sens needed a gritty LW, not a sniper but I disagree with them. Alfredsson, Hossa, Bonk and even Havlat (or maybe it's jsut crazyness in his case) can be pretty gritty in the playoffs. Just because they don't fight and are europeans, people think they are softies. Hossa, Bonk and ALfredsson are really strong and can defend themselves against clean hits but no one (not even Bertuzzi, Thornton, Lindros etc.) can defend themselves against cheap hits. That's where our support players like Neil, Simpson, Varada, Hnidy, Ray and even Fisher come in, to prevent the other team from taking cheap shots at our star players. But in the corners and in front of the net, the Senators are very tough/gritty and play with alot of heart and character.

A problem the Sens might face next year is having too much players. Van Allen and Ray will most likely retire, Lesyschyn might leave but the rest of the team will probably stay with the Senators. Spezza, Volchenkov and Vermetter won't have to be protected in the waiver draft but the Sens might loose a few players... guys like Langfeld, Pothier, Hamel, Tapper.... But then again we don't even know if there will be NHL hokcey next year.
