There is a bit of shale activity around the drayton-rocky area, but your bigger areas of activity are fox creek and Dawson creek.

Being at the edge of the Rockies, there is some seismic movement there. When we log wells out there, we have to use redundant tools that require contact with the well bore on the X and Y axis because the wellbore can deform in the time it takes to drill it due to seismic forces.

Edit: Almost any formation in the foothills area will require a frac to be economical, so it is not something exclusive to shale gas/oil exploitation. In fact, there has been fracing in the drayton area since the 1950s
