1st. The Flyers havne't been scrambling for D all year. There was a strech where 4 of them got hurt. But only two of those were regulars, and only one is still out. Plus Markov came in.
2nd. Pitkanen will not get more ice time then about 17 minutes a night because it's his 1st season playing North American hockey and he's never had to play more then 40 some-odd games in a season. There have been stretches of game where Pitkanen's been lights out and one of the top two or three players on the ice and not gotten more then 17 minutes. And there's been games he's looked bad, and still gotten 17 minutes.
Hitch had a plan for Pitkanen's playing time and he's sticking with it. He's had quotes about it several times.
