I don't think Dagenais is useless, but if he isn't giving it 110% out there he is next thing to it.
New Jersey and Florida had already given up on the guy even though he showed his 25 goal potential in both those cities. He does have one of the best shots (if not the best) on the habs but he is still a weak top 6 forward. The reason he still has a job with the habs is the simple fact we don't have another top 6 forward to go with. The biggest problem he has, imo, is the fact that he can't play on the third or fourth line. He must be paired with a good passing centre to be effective which really gives his a versitility problem.
He is a better solution for the second (or first line, whichever you consider Ribiero's line) than our other options right now, but I believe the second we get another forward that deserves top six minutes, Dagenais will in the press box or be back in Hamilton. His situation is similiar to Perreault's in alot of ways.
We shouldn't dog him to much mind you, he is the reason Gainey got rid of Audette.
