To put a positive perspective on this news, I think there is a good chance that the Board of Governors would block a move to Canada. With the NHL struggling to grow in the US, it makes no sense for the NHL to move a promising team in a relatively new market out of the country. Sure, attendance isn't great, but it's not terrible either, and the team hasn't been around for all that long.
Also, I think its unlikely that Balsille has any desire to move them to KC or any other US city, so I wouldn't worry about that.

Based on this, I'd say its far from a sure thing that this team is going to move. And I think it would be a shame if the NHL lets them go.
